
Mr. Castano joined Hudson Housing Capital in September 2001 and served as General Counsel until January of 2025, during which time he worked with Hudson’s internal attorneys as well as outside counsel to provide legal services and advice to the company at the asset management, corporate and project levels. Beginning in 2025, he is focusing on New York City investments, operations and special projects.
Prior to joining Hudson Housing Capital, Mr. Castano was an associate with Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman, LLP, resident in the firm’s New York office, and a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Structured Finance Group. Prior to joining Swidler, Mr. Castano was an associate for Seeger Weiss LLP, where he represented developers of assisted living communities for elderly residents.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Castano was counsel to the City of New York’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development, where he represented the City in land disposition and financing transactions resulting in the development of affordable and low-income housing developments.
Mr. Castano received his B.A. in 1989, from the University of Michigan, and his J.D. in 1992 from Syracuse University College of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of Syracuse Law Review’s 1991 Survey of New York Law. He is a member of the bar of the State of New York.
